The Old Man of Storr

(Morgan) Despite the amount of wine we drank last night, we woke up early this morning to hike the “Old Man of Storr.”

Storr is a mountain cliff on the Isle of Skye (elevation 2k ft) on the Trotternish Ridge. It is formed by ancient lava flows and landslides.

What we hiked up to!

It. Was. Roughhhhh. But so worth it for the views!

The Legend of Storr:
  • The Legend of a Giant: A giant died on the Trotternish Ridge and was buried there, but his thumb, or "Old Man", remained partially above ground. The big pointy bits of rock are said to be his fingers.
  • Turned to Stone: Two giants fleeing from a demon were turned into giant stones

I vote a giant squid turned to stone - but decide!
